What Comes next for the FI-RE Niche?

 

Index Funds and Side-Hustles

Many gurus won’t fight the demand for others to invest only in VOO and VTSAX. However, many gurus encourage their followers to start side-businesses using Shopify (SHOP).

When layoffs hit main street, many unemployed people may try to replace their lost incomes with online businesses. This could bode well for Shopify. Its definitely not a guarantee.

Many LTBH investors with cash on the sidelines and holding T Bills and T Bonds will try to buy the stocks they feel are best at the bottom of the recession. This bodes well for investing advisory services.

LTBH investors could shift from VOO & VTSAX to VYM, SDIV and other slightly higher yielding ETFs.

Adobe, Zoom, Fiverr, and other tech stocks can bene fit from people starting side-businesses.

Artificial intelligence

People are already using AI to publish eBooks, videos, computer programs and school assignments. Experimenting with AI has been hit and miss for me.

One Twitter poster the other day said, “AI can’t take your job if you don’t have a job.” Another said AI jobs pay $15/hr. One has to know or own something valuable for AI to be a serious help. AI can sure make a resume stand out.

Specialized content and specialized how-to content will probably be in demand during the next recession. IP lawyers and Internet security pros will probably be busy. AI will be used increasingly.

One-person businesses could and should use AI, like chat GPT, to research what’s next for their fields, what’s next for consumers and what’s next for technology related to their field.

Crypto

What do people do during crypto bear markets? Crypto and the NASDAQ seem to move together. So, a recession may well hold cryptos down. This keeps the space from growing. Crypto developers need rising coin prices to continue building and developing.

College

Many unemployed will enroll in college for financial aid.

Marketing to Women & Spirituality

Moderate to high income women may well try out subscription cancelling services, ad blockers, and specialized consumer protection web sites. Affluent women will get tired of being sold to.

VPNs may become more widely used to prevent marketers and criminals from bothering online shoppers. Conversely, demand for targeted advertising should continue to rise.

Religion, spirituality and the occult can please, occupy, and accept millions of people, especially women. This phenomena happens during recessions and depressions.

Political Activism

To a lesser extent, how to be a politician or activist instruction could take off for both the Left and Right. Historically, the Right has rejected instruction from The Leadership Institute and similar organizations. The faux Right hopes to win by serving the same elites the Left serves and to let Mega corporations run everything.

Public colleges only assist the political Left. This is true although many faux right astroturfers don’t admit it.

Right wing activism is a fairly new trend as Republicans, like I mentioned, prefer to put their heads in the sand and listen to pro elite radio and pro elite YouTube and maybe follow some astroturfers around after church.

How often do you hear CCINOs demanding tax cuts and the cutting of waste, fraud and abuse? At the local level, Republicans and Libertarians are told not to talk about tax cuts. (All global politics is local.)
